Sandals 2.0 is the brand’s modernization strategy, redefining how its resorts are designed and experienced. It covers architecture, dining, room concepts, resort layout, and the immersive relationship between the property and the authentic Caribbean experience being delivered to guests. All new Sandals and Beaches resorts are built around this standard from the ground up, and several older properties are being renovated into it.
The result is innovating the traditional all-inclusive experience into more of a luxury boutique one that happens to be in the Caribbean.
“Hi, we're Jonathan and Angela. As Sandals Chairman's Royal Club Diamond Elite travel specialists who've stayed at every Sandals resort and we've been recognized as a Sandals Top US agency.
Today, we’re going to walk you through exactly what Sandals 2.0 means, which resorts are already living it, and what's on the way..”
We’ve been visiting Sandals and Beaches resorts for over 15 years. We’ve personally seen the renovations, rebrands, and expansions come and go. Sandals 2.0 is the most significant because it’s part of Adam Stewart’s philosophy as Executive Chairman, not a refresh.
For 2026, the luxury traveler has changed. Clients who used to be satisfied with unlimited drinks, big buffets, and scheduled entertainment expect more. They are looking for thoughtful design, elevated dining, privacy, and authentic experiences that feel curated and personal, not mass-produced.
Sandals recognized this evolution and has moved to fully define it across their 17 resorts. The positioning they’re aligning the resort brand to sits closer to Aman-style luxury than traditional all-inclusive, and at Sandals Saint Vincent, you can see exactly what that looks like.
We attended the STAR awards hosted by Sandals at Sandals Saint Vincent, and from our experience, the layout pulls you through rather than funneling you toward a central pool. The buildings are a part of the landscape rather than on top of it and from our client perspective, we recently had a guest who stayed in the VF Butler Villa Suite who described it “more like a private VRBO rental than a big resort, yet had all amenities.”
That scale and intimacy is exactly what Sandals 2.0 is solving, and at Sandals Saint Vincent they’ve solved it.
The most visible change is in the rooms. Older Sandals room categories were essentially price tiers. The way we’re seeing it now, Sandals 2.0 rooms are designed as experiences with outdoor living integrated into the room itself, soaking tubs on private patios, outdoor showers, and swim-up pools that give private residence vibes rather than resort amenities.
At Sandals Saint Vincent, butler guests will arrive by private boat, transferred from the marina along the southwest coastline of the island, with their butler team waiting at the dock. That is not an amenity you book onto a traditional all-inclusive. It’s a different category of experience entirely and Sandals is the only one to offer it.
Dining follows the same philosophy. The change isn’t about adding more restaurants, either. It’s about replacing standardized concepts with chef-driven ones with curated and immersive experiences.
Buccan at Sandals Saint Vincent, is our favorite representation of this. Built around an open kitchen centered on local Vincentian culture, guests consistently call it a must-do, because it is authentic and even though the dinner goes for two hours, it doesn’t feel that way. Blum, their new coffee shop concept runs from 6am to 10pm and rivals a boutique café. Specializing in Blue Mountain coffee, you’ll find everything here from a great Cafe Latte or Cappuccino to some of the tastiest pastries and snacks.
The property development pipeline at Sandals Saint Vincent also shows where Sandals is putting its investment. Twenty-four private plunge pools are being added along the river, twenty rondovals are under construction, a dedicated marina lounge has been built for butler guests arriving by boat, and the airport lounge is doubling in size.
From our viewpoint, this is not renovation thinking. It is an expansion of a concept that’s working.
This is the most time-sensitive part of the Sandals 2.0 story right now. Following the hurricane Melissa impact in Jamaica in October 2025, three key properties are not just being repaired, they are being reopened under the Sandals 2.0 philosophy.
Sandals South Coast reopens November 18, 2026. Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean both reopen December 18, 2026.
For anyone who has stayed at these properties before, reset your expectations entirely.
Based on what we’ve seen from newer 2.0 builds at Sandals Dunn’s River, Sandals Saint Vincent and the brand new Beaches Turks and Caicos, Treasure Beach Village – expect modernized suites, redesigned public space, elevated and island centric dining concepts, and an overall standard that fully aligns with the Sandals 2.0 and Beaches 2.0 modernization philosophy.
On booking timing, there are two defensible strategies to consider… Booking early gets you access to newly renovated rooms, often at lower pricing during the initial reopening window, but if you’re going during the first couple of weeks, they will still be getting staff trained. Waiting three to six months after reopening could mean a more complete experience, but with likely higher demand and rates. Neither approach is wrong. The right choice depends on your tolerance for first-wave quirks versus your preference for pricing.
We’ve been on both sides of these scenarios, and honestly, if you’re going after the opening, it’s going to be a great experience. That being said, this is exactly the kind of decision where working with a certified Sandals specialist makes the difference, someone who knows each property’s reopening trajectory and someone who can tell you when the timing is right for your specific trip.
If any of these are a consideration, know that as Sandals specialists, we will be on-site prior to these resorts opening and will be able to give your first experience from what we’re seeing on the ground.
We want to be direct about this because it matters for how you book. Older Sandals properties still deliver amazing service and many have excellent rooms. But the design language, the use of space, and the dining concepts are visibly different from a 2.0 property. If modern aesthetics, privacy, and elevated dining are priorities for your trip, resort selection matters more than it used to and we’ll help you with that.
The question we used to help clients navigate case by case, which rooms feel dated, which resorts feel crowded, where do you get the most modern experience, Sandals 2.0 is now answering at the property level. That of significance for anyone planning a first trip or returning after a few years away.
If you want to understand why working with a Sandals specialist changes the quality of that decision, that is worth reading before you book.
The details above are exactly the kind of thing most miss until they’re already booked. The brochures and photos only show so much. If you’re considering Sandals and Beaches, especially with the Jamaica reopenings on the horizon, we’ll walk you through which resorts are operating at the 2.0 standard now, which rooms are worth the upgrade, and how to time your booking around the renovations.
Our planning services are always complimentary.
Book a call with us and we’ll make sure your trip is built around what Sandals 2.0 and Beaches 2.0 delivers, not what the website implies.
