Sandals and Beaches are owned by the same company, operate on the same all-inclusive model, and share a lot of the same DNA. But they are built for fundamentally different trips, which is what inspired this article.
Hi, we’re Jonathan and Angela! As Sandals Chairman’s Royal Club Diamond Elite travel specialists, we’ve stayed at every Sandals and Beaches resort and booked more than 2,500 couples and families into both brands. We are Sandals specialists and have traveled to Beaches both as a couple and as a family, and we have been watching our kids grow up at these resorts since 2015.
Here is our honest take on how they compare and how to know which one fits your trip.
Sandals is adults-only. Every property, every room, every pool, every restaurant is adults only, for those eighteen and up. If you are traveling as a couple, on a honeymoon, anniversary trip, or any adult getaway, Sandals is the brand you are mostly looking at, and we say mostly because Sandals does not have a resort in Turks and Caicos, so if you’re after the familiar Sandals experience and want to visit Turks and Caicos, Beaches Turks and Caicos could be the right choice.
Beaches is family-friendly. It operates on the same luxury, all-inclusive model as Sandals but welcomes children of all ages. Beaches Turks and Caicos, the flagship property, has an expansive 45,000 sqft waterpark, a dedicated kids camp, a purpose-built infant area in the Key West Village, age-specific programming, and a guest demographic that caters towards families with young children, but also offers a great tweens and teens program that keeps families returning year after year, just like us!
To that point, we find that for many of our clients, returning annually is more the rule than the exception. We’ve even had clients who are on their fifth, eighth, and thirteenth trips.
If you are traveling with children under 18, the decision is super easy. Beaches is for you!
If you are traveling as a couple, the decision is almost always Sandals, but there are cases that we briefly alluded to in the paragraphs above.
We have some couples who choose Beaches when traveling with family members who have children, and Beaches does offer an adult experience within the property. Also, for those who are into Scuba diving, Turks and Caicos is a world-class destination for it, especially for the wall dives, and with the included diving offered by Beaches, this would be a real reason to visit.
Mostly, though, if it is just the two of you, we highly recommend Sandals.
Both Sandals and Beaches sit in the premium all-inclusive tier. Neither is truly cheap, and they’re not trying to be. With the emergence of Beaches 2.0 and Sandals 2.0, this is the top all-inclusive resort brand operating in the Caribbean
That being said, there are deals to be found, and pricing varies significantly by destination, room category, travel dates, and how far in advance you book.
Sandals typically runs higher on a per-night basis at the butler and club room levels, particularly at newer or renovated properties. The Sandals 2.0-era properties like Sandals Saint Vincent, Sandals Dunn’s River, and the three Jamaica properties reopening later in 2026, represent the top of the pricing range across both brands.
Beaches Turks and Caicos sits at the premium end of the Beaches portfolio. Given the size of the property, the waterpark infrastructure, and the sheer number of villages and 70+ room categories, it does come at a higher price point than Beaches Negril. Families comparing Beaches Turks and Caicos to Disney Aulani regularly report that Beaches Turks and Caicos is less crowded and more relaxed, even during peak season, which is a real value consideration when pricing family vacations at this level.
Now, the most important price variable across both brands is room category and room level.
At Sandals, the gap between Luxury and Club vs Butler level can be substantial, and whether it is worth it depends entirely on the specific resort. At Sandals Royal Curaçao, many Luxury-level rooms are indistinguishable from Club rooms in design; it’s the location and inclusion of room service that separate the two. At Sandals Grande St. Lucian, skipping Club Level mostly means facing the Atlantic and the main road rather or the interior section of the resort.
At Beaches Turks and Caicos, with 6 villages and 70+ room categories means selection matters more than most guests realize. Those who book without fully understanding the property geography may lead to an incomple experience.
The inclusions are largely the same across both brands. All meals, all restaurants, all drinks including premium spirits (eg, Jack Daniels, Maker’s Mark, Johnny Walker Black / Red, etc..), all non-motorized water sports, scuba diving, land sports, entertainment, airport transfers, and tips are included. Neither brand charges resort fees on top of the all-inclusive rate and all taxes are included in the pricing.
The distinctions worth knowing: at Sandals, butler service is available at the top room level and includes a personal team of butlers dedicated to you for the duration of your stay. At Sandals Saint Vincent, butler guests arrive at the resort by private boat along the southwest coastline of the island, with their butler team waiting at the dock, which is the level of differentiation we are talking about at the top of the Sandals product.
At Beaches Turks and Caicos and Beaches Negril, the waterpark is included in all room categories. The kids camp, including Camp Sesame with Sesame Street characters, is included, which is a real differentiator from other All-inclusives. especially with the infant care provided.
Age-specific programming runs across the full age range. The 20-minute professional photo session is an underused amenity; guests can select their favorite images individually rather than purchasing a full package, and most guests do not know this option exists.
Travel Tip: Beaches Turks and Caicos has active age restrictions on at least three restaurants as of May 2026, including Sapodilla, Le Petit Chateau, and Sky.
Also, for those traveling with kids out of the country for their first time, Beaches has launched an exciting new promotion designed to encourage families with young children to take their first international vacation together.
The Beaches First Passport Offer provides a $135 resort credit per child ages 5 and under for stays of 5 nights or longer, specifically targeting families whose little ones have received their first U.S. or Canadian passport issued after August 1, 2025.
The program features an automatic verification system through a dedicated registration page at https://beaches.com/first-passport-registration, where families can easily confirm their eligibility before arrival. Once at the resort, front desk staff verify the passport issue dates during check-in and issues the resort credit. The promotion applies to both Beaches Turks & Caicos and Beaches Negril, effectively reducing the cost barrier for families considering their first international trip.
Lastly, and arguably one of the most important features, is the Loyalty and Travel offer… This is one program many people miss entirely: both brands have a Loyalty and Travel desk on-property. Before you check out, stop there. You can lock in your next booking at 10–12% off the standard rate, with a $250.00 deposit, a two-year window to travel, and significant flexibility to change dates or resort.
Both Sandals and Beaches use a three-tiered room structure from Luxury through Club Level to Butler. The naming conventions do differ slightly, and the specific amenities vary by property, but the framework is the same. What the category names do not tell you, at either brand, is what the room looks like beyond the photos, where it sits on the property relative to the resort’s scale, and whether the upgrade is worth it at that specific resort.
At Sandals, this is a significant consideration as you need to know how to decrypt the room titles to fully understand what they offer, which is something we will help you with during our initial consultation. At Beaches Turks and Caicos, the critical variable is village placement. Treasure Beach, the newest village, confirmed open and operating in April 2026, has pool-facing and ocean-facing rooms throughout. Unlike Beaches Negril or other Beaches Turks and Caicos villages, there are no backside, garden views.
The Italian Village has the most active pool on the property, but it does get crowded by midday. The Caribbean Village is the most heavily booked and, as of May 2026, is undergoing a complete renovation and transformation. The Key West Village is the clear recommendation for families with infants, specifically because of its purpose-built infant area, which no other village has.
Both brands have improved their food and beverage programs significantly over the past several years, and both market their restaurant options as a differentiator. The honest assessment from recent guests differs slightly by brand.
At Sandals, the 2.0-era dining movement is in full swing. Buccan at Sandals Saint Vincent, built around open-fire cooking and local Vincentian culture, consistently gets called a must-do by guests who have visited multiple Sandals properties. The move from standardized dining concepts to chef-curated ones is visible at the newer properties and will be part of the Jamaica reopenings in late 2026.
At Beaches Turks and Caicos, the honest picture from April and May 2026 guest reviews is that food rates consistently as “ok to good”, reliable and varied, but not a standout feature of the trip. That being said, with the opening ot Treasure Beach Village, that is changing quickly in the best possible way. In fact, from my recent visit in March, I saw a noticeable improvement in this very important area, as compared to my previous stays in September 2025 and February 2026.
From our research, multiple independent reviews used identical language. The Cricketers Pub and Bar is the insider pick for quick service and fewer crowds, regardless of the time of day. The Treasure Pool Bar has also rolled out a new cocktail menu in May 2026. Soy Sushi is an underappreciated dining option that regular visitors know about but first-timers often overlook.
Sandals is the right pick if you are traveling as a couple and truly want an adults-only environment, a focused luxury experience, and access to a portfolio of properties across multiple Caribbean islands. It is especially well-suited for honeymoons, anniversary trips, and couples who want the highest level of service in the butler tier.
Beaches is the right choice if you are traveling with children and want a premium all-inclusive that handles the family experience without sacrificing quality. The waterpark, the kids programming, the inclusive entertainment, and the loyalty of the guest base all point in the same direction. Families who have taken five, eight, or ten trips to Beaches Turks and Caicos and Beaches Negril over the years are not doing it because it is inexpensive; they are doing it because the product works for families at every stage of their children’s development, and there is something great about watching your children grow up at these resorts year over year.
If you are a couple specifically considering Beaches resorts, the experience is available, but the property is designed for families. The quieter periods, May and early June in particular, will give you a more relaxed atmosphere with dramatically better ocean conditions than April.
If you are still weighing both brands after reading this, the most useful next step is a conversation with a Sandals and Beaches resort specialist. The property choice, room category, village selection, and timing all work together, and the combinations that work well are not always the obvious ones.

Sandals is adults-only, couples-focused. Beaches is for everyone. That single distinction drives every other difference, including room configurations, dining setup, activities, and atmosphere.
Sandals prices per adult per night for two. Beaches prices by adult rate plus child rates (infants are free), so total cost depends on family size. Neither is inherently cheaper; it depends on who you’re bringing.
Yes. Beaches Turks & Caicos, in particular, draws couples along with families. It’s not adults-only, but couples go and enjoy it, especially for the scuba diving.
No. Sandals rooms are configured for two with king-sized beds only. Beaches has multi-bedroom suites, double bed options, and layouts that accommodate families of up to 12 people.
Sandals, in almost every case. It’s adults-only with couples-designed rooms, romantic dining, and no kids. Beaches is only suitable for honeymoons if the couple specifically wants the Turks & Caicos location or a more social atmosphere.
