Most families comparing Beaches Turks & Caicos to Beaches Negril focus on the resort price, but flight costs can be a significant factor, and understanding the airfare forecast will help you plan your family getaway in a more informed way.
Knowing how important this is to our clients, inspired our guide that tracks round-trip economy airfare from 10 major US departure cities to both Beaches resort airports: Providenciales International Airport (PLS) for Beaches Turks & Caicos, and Sangster International (MBJ) for Beaches Negril.

Our data and airfare forecasts are updated monthly. The collection date and methodology are noted at the bottom of this page.
Providenciales (PLS) is served by fewer airlines and fewer US cities with nonstop routes than the Sangster International Airport (MBJ). Jamaica has been a direct flight destination from most major US hubs for decades. The routes are competitive, prices are lower, and carriers like Southwest, Frontier, JetBlue, Delta, and American all compete aggressively on fares to Jamaica.
Turks & Caicos does not have the same competitive landscape. American Airlines, United, JetBlue, and Delta carry most of the volume to PLS. Budget carriers like Southwest are present but limited, with most flights coming from Orlando (MCO) and Chicago. From cities without a direct PLS connection, the connecting itineraries add both time and sometimes extra cost.
Based on our research of over 500 fares across the United States, for a family of four booking round-trips, the flight gap between PLS and MBJ typically runs $200 to $600 per person, meaning $800 to $2,400 in total airfare difference before the resort pricing even enters the calculation. For those doing a Beaches resort price comparison, some cities, especially those in Florida, close that gap significantly, but those further away will see higher prices.
If your family is all over the age of 18, Sandals is for adults only, and we have a Sandals Airfare Pricing Index, which tracks airfare data from the top 10 cities across the United States.

| Route | Average Round-Trip Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ATL → PLS | $544–$737 | January/February | Yes | Delta, American, JetBlue, Southwest, United |
| ATL → MBJ | $507–$770 | January/August | Yes | Delta (24/wk), Frontier, American |
ATL Price Gap Analysis: Atlanta is one of the best-positioned cities for Beaches Turks and Caicos. Delta’s Atlanta hub offers non-stop flights to Providenciales International Airport (PLS) at competitive prices. The gap between PLS and MBJ fares from Atlanta is narrower than in most cities, often $50 to $150 per person round-trip. Atlanta families choosing Beaches Turks and Caicos take the smallest airfare hit of any city on this list.
| Route | Average Round-Trip Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JFK → PLS | $475–$502 | May | Yes | American, JetBlue, Delta, United |
| EWR → PLS | $471–$661 | January | Yes | United, American, JetBlue, Frontier |
| JFK → MBJ | $390–$491 | January | Yes | JetBlue, Delta, American |
NYC Price Gap Analysis: New York has great access to nonstop service to both Providenciales International Airport (PLS) and MBJ from JFK and EWR. JetBlue operates one of the most frequent PLS routes in the country from JFK, keeping fares competitively priced. The gap between PLS and MBJ from New York metro runs $0 to $150 per person in shoulder season, widening to $100 to $250 during peak winter travel. From this market, the flight cost difference is noticeable but manageable.
| Route | Average Round-Trip Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MIA → PLS | $305–$519 | August | Yes | American, Frontier, Southwest, United |
| MIA → MBJ | $318 average | January | Yes | American, JetBlue |
Miami (MIA) Price Gap Analysis: Miami is the closest major US city to both destinations by air: Providenciales International Airport (PLS) is a 2-hour flight, Montego Bay Sangster International Airport (MBJ) roughly 90 minutes, and American Airlines dominates both routes from MIA. Fares are competitive from this market with a gap between the two resorts of typically $100 to $200 per person roundtrip. The shortest flight times among the cities on this list make Miami a great starting point for either resort, and many of our clients who have connections will do an overnight in Miami and catch the first flight out to PLS or MBJ the next day.
| Route | Average Airfare Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ORD → PLS | $559–$659 | January/September | Connecting only | American, United, Southwest, JetBlue |
| ORD → MBJ | $466–$526 | February/September | Yes (American, Southwest) | American, Southwest, United |
Chicago (ORD) Price Gap Analysis: Chicago is where the PLS disadvantage is most evident. There are no nonstop flights from ORD to PLS: every itinerary connects through CLT, ATL, MIA, or EWR, adding 2 to 4 hours of travel time each way. Meanwhile, American and Southwest both operate nonstop ORD-MBJ service. The airfare gap from Chicago is typically $100 to $200 per person, and the time cost of the connection is a consideration families often overlook when comparing resort prices and when considering the travel experience for a young family.
| Route | Average Airfare Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DFW → PLS | $395–$678 | July/November | Connecting only | American, United, JetBlue |
| DFW → MBJ | $450–$762 | September | Yes (American, 8/wk) | American, JetBlue |
Dallas (DFW) Price Gap Analysis: American Airlines is the dominant carrier from Dallas for both routes, but only MBJ gets nonstop service. PLS from DFW requires a connection through MIA, CLT, or a northeastern hub. The price gap from Dallas runs $100 to $200 per person, and nonstop vs. connecting is again the more significant difference. A family of four from Dallas adds roughly 4 to 6 hours of total travel time by choosing Turks and Caicos over Jamaica.
| Route | Average Airfare Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LAX → PLS | $614–$854 | July/November | Connecting only | American, Delta, United, JetBlue |
| LAX → MBJ | $500–$700 est. | May | Connecting only | American, JetBlue, United |
Los Angeles (LAX) Price Gap Analysis: Los Angeles is the only city in this dataset where the PLS vs MBJ airfare gap is narrow: both routes require connections, typically through Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, or a New York hub. Neither route has nonstop service from LAX. Flight times from Los Angeles to either destination run 7 to 10 hours total with connections. The price difference per person is typically $50 to $150, making airfare a neutral market. For LA families, resort preference and total value should carry more weight than flight cost in the decision.
| Route | Average Airfare Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BOS → PLS | $485–$621 | January/November | Yes | American (10/wk), Delta (12/wk), JetBlue (7/wk) |
| BOS → MBJ | $452–$460 | September | Yes | American, Delta, JetBlue |
Boston (BOS) Price Gap Analysis: Boston has great nonstop service to PLS, which helps close the typical price gap. However, MBJ from Boston is consistently cheaper: Frontier and budget carriers actively compete on the Jamaica route in ways they do not on Turks and Caicos. The gap from Boston is $100 to $200 per person in off-peak periods, widening to $200 to $300 in peak summer. September and October are the best value months from Boston for either resort.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| CLT → PLS | $374–$728 | November | Yes | American, Delta, Southwest |
| CLT → MBJ | $382 average | January/April | Yes | American |
Charlotte (CLT) Price Gap Analysis: Charlotte is an American Airlines hub, and AA operates nonstop service to both PLS and MBJ from CLT. The gap from Charlotte is consistent with the national average: $100 to $200 per person roundtrip in shoulder season. January and April are the cheapest months to fly from Charlotte to MBJ. November is the best value window for PLS.
| Route | Average Airfare Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DCA → PLS | $244–$543 | September | Yes (JetBlue) | JetBlue, American, United |
| DCA → MBJ | $348 average | November | Yes (JetBlue, Delta) | JetBlue, Delta, American, Southwest |
Washington DC (DCA) Price Gap Analysis: Washington DC is one of the top markets for PLS: JetBlue operates regular nonstop DCA-PLS service, which keeps fares competitive. Southwest also operates DCA-MBJ at fares starting under $275 one-way. The gap from DC is typically $100 to $200 per person, and September is the best value window for Turks and Caicos from this market.
| Route | Average Airfare Range | Cheapest Month | Nonstop | Airlines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MCO → PLS | $361 average | January | Yes (Southwest, 7/wk) | Southwest, American |
| MCO → MBJ | $372–$409 | January/February | Yes | JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, Frontier |
Orlando (MCO) Price Gap Analysis: Orlando is one of the best markets on this list. Southwest operates nonstop MCO-PLS service, which is relatively unusual for a budget carrier on the Turks and Caicos route. The airfare gap from Orlando between PLS and MBJ is the narrowest of any non-East-Coast city, often $50 to $150 per person. Families flying from Orlando choosing between the two resorts can largely take airfare off the table as a deciding factor.
The difference in flight costs between Beaches Turks & Caicos and Beaches Negril is definitely a consideration, but it is not consistent. Let me explain…
Markets where Turks and Caicos is competitively priced: Atlanta, New York metro, Miami, Washington DC, and Orlando. Nonstop service is available from all five cities, and carrier competition keeps PLS fares within a manageable distance of MBJ prices.
Markets where Turks and Caicos carries a premium: Chicago, Dallas, and Boston. Connecting itineraries to PLS from Chicago and Dallas add time as well as cost. The $100 to $300 per-person gap from these cities, multiplied by a family of four on a round-trip, is real money that should factor into the resort-versus-resort comparison.Markets where the gap is minimal: Los Angeles and Orlando. From LAX, both routes require connections. From MCO, Southwest’s PLS service brings fares within close range of MBJ.
Use our pricing calculator inside our Beaches Resorts Price Guide, add your departure city’s typical airfare range for both destinations, and compare the results. The resort that looks more expensive on the Beaches website may not be more expensive when the complete trip is priced.
Book early for PLS. Flight inventory to Providenciales is smaller than to Montego Bay from most US cities. Booking 12+ weeks out is standard guidance, but PLS routes, especially from non-hub cities, can see price spikes earlier than Jamaica routes do.
Best value windows across all ten cities: September and October are the cheapest months at eight of the ten departure cities for at least one of the two routes. If your dates are flexible, late September and early October deliver the best airfare-to-experience ratio for either resort.

Yes. Nonstop service to Providenciales (PLS) is available from Atlanta, New York, Miami, Boston, Washington DC, Charlotte, and Orlando. Chicago and Dallas require connections. American Airlines, JetBlue, Delta, and United are the primary carriers. Budget carrier options to PLS are limited compared to Jamaica routes.
Beaches Negril (MBJ) is cheaper to fly to from most US cities. Jamaica has more active carrier competition, including Southwest, Spirit, and Frontier on key routes, which keeps fares lower. The gap is smallest from New York, Orlando, and Miami, and widest from Chicago and Charlotte. From Los Angeles, both destinations require connections and fares are comparable.
September and October are consistently the cheapest months for flights to Providenciales (PLS) from most US departure cities. Fares are lowest in the fall shoulder season before the winter holiday pricing window opens. January can also offer competitive fares from select markets after the holiday peak clears.
Budget carrier options to Providenciales are limited. Southwest operates service from Orlando (MCO) to PLS, which is relatively uncommon for a low-cost carrier on this route. Frontier has limited PLS service from select cities. Most PLS capacity is carried by American, JetBlue, Delta, and United. This is a key reason why fares to Turks and Caicos run higher than comparable Caribbean destinations served by Frontier and Southwest more broadly.
The difference varies significantly by departure city. From New York and Orlando, fares to PLS and MBJ are close to parity. From Atlanta, Boston, and Washington DC, TCI typically costs $75 to $150 more per person roundtrip. From Chicago and Charlotte, the gap widens to $150 to $200 more per person, compounded by the fact that PLS requires a connection from both cities while Jamaica has nonstop service.
