In October 2026, Sandals Resorts International announced new names for 14 Sandals resorts and Beaches Negril. Only the names changed and most new names now start with the island, so Sandals Royal Bahamian is now Sandals Bahamas Nassau and Sandals Ochi is now Sandals Jamaica Ocho Rios.
Four resorts kept their names: Sandals Royal Barbados, Sandals Barbados, Sandals Grenada and Beaches Turks & Caicos.
Three of the Jamaica resorts are also reopening after renovations this fall. Their dates are in the table below.

As of the announcement date, nothing experiential is changing. Your invoices may reflect the new resort names, and branding may be updated, but as it relates to your booking, everything remains the same. As you close in on your upcoming trip, you can expect the same amazing service provided by Sandals and Beaches.
Most new names are easy to match to the old ones. These four read like different resorts, so they cause the most confusion.
The only Sandals resort in The Bahamas located on Cable Beach in Nassau. Its offshore island keeps its name, Sandals Barefoot Cay. See where it lands in our ranking of every Sandals resort.
The Montego Bay resort, formerly known as Sandals Royal Caribbean, with the private offshore island and overwater bungalows, has changed names twice. Sandals announced Sandals Caribbean Cay in June 2026, then added the Jamaica prefix in October.
The resort closed after Hurricane Melissa in October 2025 and reopens December 18, 2026, after a renovation that adds 84 rooms. Our Sandals Jamaica reopening guide covers what is new, and the overwater suites are in Sandals overwater bungalows in Jamaica.
Sandals St. Lucia Grand Bay, formerly known as Sandals Grande St. Lucian, has the most significant name change of the three St. Lucia resorts. Under the new naming convention, each now starts with Sandals St. Lucia.

Sandals Jamaica Ocho Rios is the 100-acre resort on Jamaica’s north coast, featuring a beach club by the ocean and the Butler Village located up in the hills. It was Sandals Ochi Beach Resort, and before that, Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Villa Golf Resort.
What to watch for with the new naming conventions. Sandals Jamaica Royal Plantation and Sandals Jamaica Dunn’s River are separate resorts on the same stretch of the north coast. If a quote or review says “Ocho Rios,” check which resort it means and if you’re into golf, here are in our Sandals golf in Jamaica guide.
Four resorts lost a word from their names.
